Mini RC Helicopter

Just like the full size version, RC helicopters are hard to control.  Interestingly, the larger the helicopter, the easier it is to control. Unfortunately, the larger the helicopters the more expensive they become, and as a by product, replacement parts replacement parts can be costly. For that reason a mini rc helicopter is better for the beginners. While the smaller size makes it slightly more unstable, the cheaper price and less complicated design makes it a good starter heli.

Micro RC Helicopter

The micro rc helicopter is small enough to fly them indoors. A good example of this is the Piccolo rc helicopter. With a rotor diameter of only 20", this is small enough to fit in the palm of your hand! These models are extremely popular and are the current hot products in the heli hobby.

RC Helicopter Electric

Originally, an r/c helicopter was powered by small gas engines. Today, you can buy an rc helicopter that is powered by a small electric motor. There are several advantages to this. One significant advantage is the lack of noise.  Another is you do not need to handle flammable fuel.  There are also no fumes, so you can fly indoors. Simply charge the battery pack and start flying.

Some of the manufacturers offer instructional videos. This makes it easier to learn how to fly the rc helicopter. You can also buy rc helicopter videos from your local hobby shop, from hobbyists, or from an online r/c store.

DraganFlyer

One of the intermediate models is the Dragan Flyer. This is commonly referred to as the Dragonfly RC Helicopter. This is a four rotor electric powered machine that can be fitted with a small, in flight camera. Imagine having your own remote controlled helicopter outfitted with a video camera.  You could get some great shots of the football game if you could sneak it into the stadium.
