Which Type Of RC Jet Should I look For?

Basically, there are three types of rc jets on the market today.  . There are the ducted fan rc jets, and then the unusual pusher jets (they use a propeller on the rear to drive the jet).  Making waves in the rc world recently has been  turbine powered planes.  The turbine powered planes are at the very top end of the hobby.

Ducted fan rc jets like the F16 Fighting Falcon Ducted Fan RC jet use a small high rpm multi-bladed fan engine operates in an internal duct.  The ducted fan engine  can deliver tremendous power (spinning at 20,000 RPM or more) to drive the jet. They are extremely fast.  Another RC jet you might to check out is the  Sabre jet (F86).

Pusher jets such as the E-Flite ElectraJetEP Super Combo or the   Megatech Megastealth have a propeller in the rear of the plane which pushes it through the air. It's much slower than the ducted fan jet.

Turbine powered rc jets can attain speeds in the  300+ MPH range. These jets are actually scale versions of the real thing and burn JP-4 jet fuel.

While you may have experience with the prop driven remote controlled planes and want to move up to rc jets,  You should start with the pusher model, mainly since  it's slower, you would have more time to react to problems that may arise.  If you can afford to start with an instructor, then it is possible to learn to fly any of the rc jets.
