Jet Engines For RC Planes
If you have ever seen or heard an RC jet plane model,I would bet you thought you were hearing the real thing. They are loud!! When a model enthusiast puts a model jet engine into an RC plane, it adds the ultimate touch of realism to the rc jet. Commercially produced units for radio control plane use are widely available. Turbine rc jet flying has become the in thing recently.
This arena of the hobby is just not for the beginner. A ton of model flying experience is required, along with a set of deep pockets are needed to actively participate in flying the rc jet models with real gas turbines.
There is no such thing as a cheap rc jet engine. The smaller model jet engines even cost upwards of a thousand dollars - and that's just for the engine and you still have to buy the plane, the radio gear and all the other bits needed. Flying a remote controlled jet model is serious business. It is ultimately one of the most rewarding ways of enjoying rc flying!
There are less expensive types of jet engines such as a model gas turbine engine. These are also used in larger scale helicopters, but some people feel they sound more like a fixed wing jet model than an RC helicopter.
