What Is The Difference Between Electric And Gas Powered Remote Controlled Airplanes?

The electric remote controlled airplanes are becoming more popular, due to the many improvements in technology and the clean, quiet, and reliable nature of the aircraft. As one might expect, there are quite a few different kinds of electric remote controlled airplanes available, with each designed for a different purpose. I will attempt to show you some of the different types of electric RC planes available, and explain how they work.

Some of the benefits the battery powered remote controlled planes have over their nitro powered counterparts are:

Battery powered remote controlled airplanes are less expensive than a comparable fuel powered RC plane. 

Electric powered remote controlled airplanes are just as powerful as fuel RC planes thanks to their brushless motors.

They are safer than fuel RC planes - Electric RC planes are just plain safer than fuel. Accidental contact with a hot nitro (gas) powered engine can cause a serious burn. The nitro powered planes and propellers cause significantly more damage than the propellers and motors of a battery powered plane in the inevitable accidents in which they are involved.

Last but not least is the noise factor.  Naturally, electric motors run silently while the nitro powered vehicles make a lot of noise.  To hear the difference, use your friend Google and do a search for a YouTube video of a nitro powered jet engine.  They sound exactly like a commercial jet!
